Griffith Review 47

The new WA focussed edition of the Griffith Review is out - featuring new work by Kim Scott, Steve Kinnane, Sean Tan, Amanda Curtin, Jacqueline Wright and many more. As usual with the Griffith Review (I haven't had an essay with them since 2006), it's a terrific mix of reportage, fiction, poetry, art and essays in this case looking at Western Australia, past and present. My own essay is called 'Worm in the Bud', looking at WA crime and crime writing, and can be found here - https://griffithreview.com/articles/worm-bud/

I talked with QLD journalist, novelist and true crime writer Matt Condon, whose books I greatly admire, on Radio National's Books & Arts program - the link is here - http://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/booksandartsdaily/crime-and...

The book was launched by the Governor Kerry Sanderson at the Perth Town Hall, where I spoke about the history of the site as it relates to the essay's themes of crime and punishment - http://news.curtin.edu.au/media-releases/shifting-pace-western-australia...

The book was reviewed in the West Australian, linked to here - https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/entertainment/a/26253824/critical-eye-...

Helen Trinca also kindly referenced the Perth book in her essay republished in the Weekend Australian, linked to here - http://www.theaustralian.com.au/arts/review/western-values-perth-now-and... - and Warwick Hemsley also references the Perth book here - https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/business/a/26173727/warwick-hemsley/
